The Karmic Retribution of the Carp Hole Under the Pagoda Tree

A lot can happen in a year, and one such event was the romance between the apprentice of a Feng Shui master and the daughter of a wealthy landlord. During that time, the landlord became obsessed with a rapidly growing pagoda tree in his yard, longing for someone to die in his family so that he could use the legendary Carp Hole to achieve wealth and success.

However, the romance between the apprentice and the daughter was discovered by the landlord. Furious, the landlord accused the apprentice of seducing his daughter and had him tied up and sent to the authorities. The daughter, heartbroken, hanged herself, thus providing the necessary death for the Carp Hole.

Despite his grief, the Feng Shui master conducted the daughter’s funeral. She was buried in the Carp Hole, and in return, the landlord promised to take care of the master in his old age and to release the apprentice from prison once he became wealthy. The master assured the landlord that he would achieve great fortune within three years but left seven pagoda trees as a precaution.

Three years passed, and the landlord’s family indeed prospered. However, he broke his promise, claiming his success was due to his hard work and not the Carp Hole’s Feng Shui. He refused to release the apprentice and even burned the old master to death.

The master had anticipated this betrayal. Shortly after his death, the apprentice sent a message from prison, warning the landlord that the family’s luck would only last three years unless remedial actions were taken.

Panicked, the landlord released the apprentice and treated him like a guest, making numerous empty promises. The apprentice went to perform rituals at the daughter’s grave but died there, his blood forming a strange pattern over the Carp Hole.

It turned out that the daughter hadn’t hanged herself; the landlord had strangled her to expedite the burial. The master had discovered this and informed the apprentice before his death, ensuring the landlord’s downfall.

As the fire raged, villagers could do nothing but watch the mansion burn. By dawn, nothing was left but ashes. The villagers found the charred remains of the landlord’s family and deemed it divine retribution for his wicked deeds.

The once lush pagoda trees were now withered, and the Carp Hole became a cursed place. Over time, the story of the landlord’s downfall became a cautionary tale for the villagers, reminding them to act with integrity and kindness.

The apprentice, who died avenging his master, was honored by the villagers. They buried him on a scenic hill and visited his grave every year to pay their respects.

The story of the Feng Shui master also became legendary. Despite his tragic end, his wisdom was revered. The villagers built a small shrine in his memory, praying for peace and prosperity in their lives.
